PBHT is an acronym for Proper Balance Horse Trim.
PBHT is a different, holistic school of thought on evaluating, trimming, and balancing horses.
The evaluation begins by reviewing key points of information present within each and every horse and determining where skeletal or muscular imbalances exist.
Once the body is evaluated, the feet are examined to determine how and why there are imbalances in the feet. Sometimes the feet cause body imbalances and sometimes the body creates imbalances in the feet. Which came first: the body or the feet issues? Sometimes, it doesn’t matter. There is an issue at hand and a trimming ‘game plan’ must be analyzed to determine the best course of action.
Once the course of action is determined and the feet are trimmed, the body is re-evaluated to see how much of the issues have been addressed. It may well take numerous trims to correct or address some issues, but the issues should nonetheless be improved after just one trim.
Ultimately, the goal is to balance the horse’s feet and body as best as possible.
